How do I get started?
The first step is to complete the 90-second “I Want to Get Healthy” questionnaire. From there, you will be prompted to complete two client forms which will give your Health Coach a starting block for creating your personalized 6-month program: the ‘Comprehensive Health Assessment’ and ‘Quick Metabolic Profile’. You will then be contacted by Atali Carr, your Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She will connect with you quickly to schedule your FREE 50-minute Health Consultation. This session can be completed in a variety of ways – in-person (if distance allows), online via Skype, or over the phone @ (469) 702-1977.
What is included in the FREE 50-minute Health Assessment?
In our initial consultation we discuss your current health situation. We identify your primary areas of concern and create attainable goals for a healthier diet and lifestyle. We then design an initial plan which will guide you to reach your targets as well as customize which future individual coaching services would work best to achieve sustainable results.
What is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach?
Your Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach is a wellness authority and supportive mentor who will motivate and guide you in cultivating positive health choices. Different than a Dietician or a Therapist, Health Coaches educate and support clients to achieve their health goals through lifestyle, dietary and behavior adjustments. Proper health coach training (such as the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Integrated Nutritional Health Coach certification) ensure that Health Coaches know how to work with a variety of individuals and equips them with the tools necessary to best fit the needs of their clients.
“The primary objectives of health coaching are to educate the patient regarding self health management and to encourage patients in taking a more proactive role in staying healthy.”-Medical Economics, Nov 2010
As more and more awareness is given to preventative care, health coaching is seen as a vital aspect of creating healthy lifestyle changes. Health Coaches are becoming recognized as essential and integral parts of a successful health and wellbeing regimen. They help clients sift through the avalanche of nutritional information available today – providing concise, targeted, and fact-based information for you to act on.
What Does the Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach provide?
Each session is going to be focused on you – the progress you’re making, working through obstacles you’re encountering, celebrating your progress, and your next steps on your journey to the newer and healthier you. The first phase involves identifying specific, concrete, and attainable goals based on the changes you want to make. Then we move on to crafting a specific plan, tailored to you, and built to be accomplished in ways demonstrating tangible results. You will receive specific recommendations around changes in diet and foods, detailed action plans around personal learning plans for yourself from a variety of sources, self-care tips, and a variety of other tips and techniques. All of this is designed around the core strategy of accelerating the pace of your progress to meet your original objectives – and then set new ones based on your success.
What is my role as a Vibrant Method Client?
We ask that you attend each session with an open mind, a willing spirit, and implement the recommendations with a can-do approach and honest communication. Your success is not only based on your personal drive and will-power, but also on your enthusiasm to attempt your Coach’s suggestions. This process will accelerate over time as you achieve your goals, celebrate your successes, and set new targets to accomplish.
How long does the Vibrant Method take to see results?
We will meet twice a month, for a total of 12 sessions, with each session lasting 45-50 minutes. This can be achieved via in person sessions (given proximity), online sessions via Skype, or by phone. Once you “graduate” from your first 12 sessions, a new program can be crafted to take your health management to the next level. Ideally, you would retain your health coach for life as a mentor/ally and a source of emerging holistic knowledge as you age.
Is the Vibrant Method a “Diet”?
Its so much more than eating do’s and don’t’s. This is not a restrictive food or fad diet. The Vibrant Method is a comprehensive, dynamic and holistic approach to improving your wellness in areas including eating, health, physical activity, grocery shopping, home cooking, self-care, and the benefits of whatever your current spiritual practice is, to name a few.
Does the Vibrant Method require me to become a Vegetarian or Vegan?
No. We strongly advocate that healthy eating requires balance. After researching over 300 dietary theories, The Vibrant Method was designed to resolve your dietary confusion by creating your customized bio-individual eating plan derived from several proven dietary philosophies (such as 80/20, Integrative Nutrition, Acid/Alkaline, Anti-inflammatory, Ayurvedic, Blood Type, Body Ecology, Fat Flush, Glycemic Index, Macrobiotics, Mayo Clinic, Mediterranean, Paleolithic, and Raw/Super Food Diets). We can certainly create a wellness plan for clients who prefer to eat a plant-based diet, but will never recommend a meat-eating client become a vegetarian. We may have you balance the amount you eat each week and replace some animal protein with plant alternatives, but we believe organic, grass fed meats are vital to certain clients’ constitution. Again, we focus on your bio-individuality. Some clients may thrive on red meats, while others do better with wild-caught fish and plant proteins.
Does the Vibrant Method teach me how to cook?
Your Holistic Health Coach will support you with keys to healthy cooking, a basic kitchen setup outline, tips on cooking for simple living, staple grocery lists, and can even guide you on how to shop in an affordable health food store. As an added benefit, you will have access to the “Vibrant Method Approved” recipe vault which provides a variety of simple, quick, healthy, nutritious, and delicious options for you to enjoy.
But what if I crave junk food and slip up or cheat on my Vibrant Method plan?
Bacon, queso, cupcakes, and booze may currently sound delicious, even though you logically know that in excess, they can be detrimental to your health. But we know that ‘Life Happens’! Bad habits are hard to break and we all experience food cravings. The Vibrant Method implements the ‘80/20 Rule’ in all things. Part of what is designed into the program is the ability to “cheat” on occasion or up to 20% of the time. First, we have to reprogram your taste buds and modify your main food intake to a nutritious state. Then, we build in the ability to relax somewhat to be able to gently reintroduce those “cheat” foods in a balanced way, or better, something that satisfies your cravings/desires just as much, but in a more productive way.
Food cravings are your body’s way of getting your attention. You will be keeping a general food log to identify what you crave and when. Your body is a well programmed supercomputer – it never makes mistakes. We identify the foods, deficits, and behaviors in your life that are the underlying causes of your cravings. Many people view cravings as weakness, but really, they are important messages meant to assist you in maintaining balance. When you experience a craving, we deconstruct it. We identify what the body really wants. We then pinpoint the ‘why’ and suggest alternate superior foods to satisfy these cravings.
How is the Vibrant Method different from other lifestyle and weight-loss programs?
The Vibrant Method uses a now- and future-centered approach to facilitate measurable, positive change. The main focus is not ONLY on weight loss. Instead, it offers a whole mind/body focus on goals and desires, and takes action on proven information that serves your specific situation, goals, and obstacles. This does not use a “numbers-based” approach to achieve target weight (such as “calories in” vs. “calories out”). Instead, the Vibrant Method advocates a whole-food centered methodology (suggesting a food that might be higher in calories, but is a superior alternative for you and closer to what your body really needs and can use). A good example of this would be something like using blackstrap molasses, raw honey, or liquid stevia (depending on the use) rather than processed sugar or a toxic synthetic sweetener. We focus on the “why’s and how’s” behind eating rather than viewing the act of eating in isolation.
What resources will be made available to me?
At each session, you will be given materials to help implement new habits in areas including primary foods (such as your lifestyle, relationships, physical activity, and inspiration); secondary foods (such as nutrient-dense whole foods that feed the body), self-care tips, meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and recipes. We will also be reviewing and updating your goals, progress towards those goals, any obstacles you’re running into and specific recommendations on how to overcome those, and more.
What if I already eat a special diet, have known food allergies or unknown food sensitivities?
All known food related issues and intolerances are taken into consideration when creating goals and learning new methods of optimizing healthy eating. This is one of the many benefits of using a Certified Integrated Nutrition Health Coach. Food intolerances to common inflammatory elements such as gluten and dairy are a major area of concern for a Holistic Practitioner.
Will I be judged for my current diet/lifestyle or feel like I’m in a doctor’s or psychologists office.
The simple answer – NO! Your Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach takes a different approach than commonly found in Western medical practices. We offer a safe environment to discuss personal issues (and take the time to do so) and provide friendly support. We strive to listen and understand the what, why, and how of your current lifestyle. We focus on positive motivation and celebrating success without shaming, judging, or embarrassing our clients. We do practice tough love at times because the magic happens outside your comfort zone. We challenge you to stretch beyond your current habits. We guide and support you while helping to maintain your motivation…especially when it comes to obstacles.
Can I just purchase one session?
The Vibrant Method is based on an active progression of bi-monthly sessions that gradually build on the next session. We are actively eliminating bad habits and introducing new ones, which take time to become ingrained in your daily lifestyle. If you’ve tried quick-fix programs, or “just eat this and everything will magically get better” approaches before, you know those don’t work. You need a complete, balanced approach to making significant and lasting changes to something as ingrained in you, such as what and how you eat…a basic life requirement. That’s why we’ve structured this as a six-month program – letting you gradually, but persistently, introduce the changes you need to actually achieve a complete and permanent result. You will see changes almost immediately, but it takes more than a few sessions to achieve that kind of permanent transformation.
Is the program affordable?
Yes. We find that most clients save money with our dietary suggestions and modifications, which at least offset, if not outright pay for the program. We will also tailor the program to meet your individual needs. You will be receiving solid mentoring and easy-to-implement steps based on 15 years of industry research, education, and practice. Also, discounts are offered for clients who choose to either pay monthly or the program in full.
